5 Reasons To Take Online Classes With CCU!
Here are five reasons for you to consider signing up for online courses with Calvary Chapel University!
Study Using A Flexible Schedule And Learning Environment
By studying online with Calvary Chapel University you get to choose your own learning environment! Study wherever you need to! Your bedroom, your home office, the coffee shop across the street! Listen to your instructor’s lecture as you jog on the treadmill! Isn’t that awesome?
Studying online with CCU gives you more flexibility. You can fit your ministry schedule and responsibilities around your coursework easily! All CCU courses are asynchronous, meaning you don’t have to log in at a specific time for a live session, but you can study and interact with your instructor and your fellow classmates at your own pace through the discussion boards and assignments due at the end of each week!
Enjoy Lower Tuition Costs
Many students overlook the financial advantage of online classes. Although an online student may pay the same per-credit tuition rate as some traditional colleges…they do not have to pay for over-priced housing or meal plans!
Another advantage of online learning is that it often results in cheaper textbooks, almost all CCU classes allow the option to purchase digital versions of your textbooks via Amazon or other digital platforms!
Also, Calvary Chapel University offers AMAZING discounts for those active in ministry as we strive to be the helper of your joy!
Learn At Your Own Pace!
One of the great things about the innovation of online learning is that through learning in your own environment and with your own schedule, the pressure to keep up with other students in a face to face environment is removed. You might knock out some assignments in record time because the material is easy for you to understand, or you may need extra time to make some of lessons stick with you. The point is, you are in total control of your progress through the CCU portal and you can learn at a pace that benefits you the most!
Network With Other Like-Minded Students
Being a part of Calvary Chapel University helps you to connect with other people doing ministry all over the world that you may not have otherwise met! These relationships deepen as you progress through courses together and often result in amazing opportunities to partner in Gospel ministry down the road! Students consistently receive chances to learn from each other and develop lasting, meaningful connections!
Be Discipled By Our Amazing Instructors!
In some ways, the distance is greater between you and your teacher because you’re not seeing them in-person. But in other ways, you have much more access. When you have a question in an in-person class your teacher may, or may not have time to answer it…
In an online class, you can email a teacher questions directly. When they answer, they are able to give you a thorough answer and make sure you understand what they are trying to communicate.
Many of our instructors take the role of ministry mentors in our students lives, and consistently Calvary Chapel University students tell us one of the things that they LOVE most about CCU is the one-on-one mentorship of our experienced teaching staff!

Don Welch: Lifelong Learning With CCU
Don Welch has been a follower of Jesus for 51 years! Growing up Don ran tour boats through the Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan as part of his family’s tourism business. It is a harsh, cold winter with not a lot of people around, but in that small-town Don encountered Christ during the Jesus Movement in the early 70’s!
Don decided he wanted to enter the ministry and enrolled at Great Lakes Christian College in 1972 with a major in New Testament and minors in Old Testament and Ancient Languages. Don loved school and attempted to earn a master’s degree from Trinity Theological Seminary but was never able to finish.
Don met and married Ruth in 1982 and in 1996, they answered God’s call to pastor a small church in Stuart, Florida. The church grew from twenty to one hundred seventy-five regular attenders. Then the Lord led Don from there to the public school system. Where he has been teaching high school social studies for nineteen years.
Don and Ruth are serving today at Calvary Chapel Palm City, Florida, Don is one of the elders and Bible teachers.
“In 2016 one of the pastors at our church encouraged me to finish up my master’s work. My family fully supported the idea. I have been excited to renew my mind, refresh my spirit, and study God’s Word. CCU is challenging, with great courses and professors. I am thrilled to be able to finish my Masters after 36 years. I would encourage any and every one to invest their lives in God’s Word, through the courses offered at Calvary Chapel University!”
Abby Meza: Equipped To Educate Through Calvary Chapel University

Abby Meza has a rich history of being involved and growing up in Calvary Chapel churches! Her father, grandfather and uncle are all Calvary Chapel pastors!
As a typical Pastor’s kid Abby grew up in ministry roles inside of the church. However, Abby felt a personal call to ministry during a missions trip in middle school! With that in mind she decided to enroll at Calvary Chapel Bible College in Murrieta, California. It was there that she would meet her future husband Ryan!
After leaving Murrieta, attending another Christian college and not really knowing exactly what the Lord had for her, Abby realized that she wanted to continue to pursue education. Particularly, she wanted to pursue her education, in education! Abby felt the calling from the Lord towards elementary education and in 2017 she began her B.A in Elementary Education through Calvary Chapel University!
When asked what drew Abby to Calvary Chapel University, she is quick to point out that being able to go through school debt free was one of the main attractions for her! As a relative of a Calvary Chapel Pastor she was able to take full advantage of our ministry tuition discount program!
“I have to pay for my education so the discount was incredible!”
Her investment has paid off! Over the summer Abby was offered and accepted a full-time teaching position as a second-grade teacher at Atlantic Christian School!
“I knew I wanted to work at a Christian school and be a Christian teacher…I am so thankful for all that Calvary Chapel University taught and prepared me for!”
